Valentine's Day - A day to celebrate love with flowers, candy, wine and
candlelit dinners. Although Lake County produces some of the best
produce and wines in California, it can, unfortunately, sometimes be difficult to
find a place that provides the right ambiance for a special meal.
The Manzanita Restaurant at the Twin Pines Casino manages to find the perfect way to combine specialty Lake County foods and a secluded, easy-to-gaze-into-your-lover's-eyes atmosphere in one graceful swoop. Yes, it is in an reasonably noisy casino. Yes, you may have to pass by a few smokers before you get inside. Still, once you step inside the Manzanita's wooden doors, you are whisked away to a peacefully rustic, charming restaurant with great food and even better service.
On Valentine's Day, I had their V-Day special poached pear salad and their mushroom chicken fettucini off of their regular menu. Both items were equally delicious! For you meat and seafood lover's out there, they had a Lobster Risotto that sounded to die for and a steak on their regular menu that was VERY reasonably priced.
I was glad that we had made a reservation because they were super packed on Valentine's. I overheard them tell some guests that the wait was an HOUR. So if you plan on going, I would suggest calling them about an hour ahead of your arrival time.
They are still serving their Valentine's Day menu through tonight. Here's a link http://twinpine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/TPValentineMenu.jpg Check out the Manzanita Restaurant and tell me what you think!
